Vauxhall Omega 2.2 2003 - Fault code P0340 cam sensor - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2002
Engine Size and Code *: 2.2

hi all need some help with this one, car came in with a p0340 cam sensor fault code & a leaking rocker cover gasket so done the gasket & changed the cam sensor reset the fault codes & started car engine management light came on with 3 codes all about low power or voltage to throttle body did no work on throttle body but i disconnected the throttle body & checked pin b & g for voltage both should have 5v but g did not i tested the loom its fine the ecu is given 5v when loom disconnected but power dies when loom connected i though back to what work i done & discounted the new cam sensor the 5v came back to throttle body don't get it how are they connected? thanx

What cam sensor did you fit?the 2.2 engine uses a different engine management system to a vectra and so the cam sensor is not the same part as a vectra and it is also approx twice the price.

it was a after market one i think called KERR NELSON did not know you have different types they looked the same. so have you had this problem before

Its quite a known fault this one Joe, the pin configurations on the cam sensor are different so the 5v supply to the tps and throttle body get dragged down .There are two different systems its something like simtec 56 and simtec 60 , the cam sensors look exactly the same.

cheers lee i think i will order one from the dealer by reg they will know which one i need. just a question if i cut the wires on the loom and change them round would it work why do they have two types.

Good idea fit genuine, but i,m sure all 2.2 (x & y) are simtec 71.

I got the car back in on a recovery broke down with customer i was going to get the car in anyway but not on a tow truck because the cam sensor i ordered from vauxhall arrived when it left me last week i disconnected the cam sensor & had one on order. know with the new cam sensor fitted no fault code will not start no spark but on activations coil will fire must mean it ok any ideas

hi kevin in live data when engine turning over RPM is zero & dash as well but the fuel pump does start working so the ecu must be seeing something another thing is have seen a code after changine the battery of p1700 & before changing cam sensor have seen it before clearing do you know what that is thanx

had this problem time and time again where wrong cam sensor fitted and had one that damaged the ecu. ray

i changed the crank sensor still will not start got the ecu tested it passed on my snap-on i can activate the coil to all cyclinders ok so coil must be working any ideas why no spark

timing had jumped so cam & crack did not patch & so coil was not firing refitted timing belt know starts but valves are leaking at least now i know what i have to do thanx guys
