Honda CRV I-Vtec 2.0 2004 - Engine idle too low - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2004
Engine Size and Code *: 2.0cc

Been trying to reset/learn the idle as the vehicle is stalling most of the time. It looks like the iacv is not working as the engine revs do not respond to the ecu commands or when actuated with diagnostics. Does anyone know if this is a separate unit or is it part of the complete throttle body ass.

Hi Steve,

You have not been able to manually adjust the idle on most cars for a long time.

On some vehicles you can adjust it via the ECU but more often than not the fault lies elsewhere.

What tests have you carried out with regard to the issue?

Hi Steve
If I remember the set up right, you need to remove the throttle body and a valve bolted to the back of the inlet manifold for cleaning. (The throttle body splits to get right into the idle control valve)
Also check that the coolant running through the valves isnt blocked.
There is also a basic idle screw that can be adjusted.
Hope I am thinking of the right system.

It was fitted to the base of the throttle unit. Removing the valve revealed the idle shaft stuck, gave it some light oil and a clean up to free up the shaft in the housing. Refit and rebuild, idle tests now all working, ecu re-learned idle setting.
