Nissan Micra 1.0 2004 - Code P0170 system lean - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2004
Engine Size and Code *: 1.0 petrol
( Optional) Fault Codes: p0170

scanned last thing tonite
came up with code of p0170 system lean
live data showed stft25% ltft25% pre cat lambda
0.00v constant post cat sensor 0.280v
tried to get pre cat sensor switching by spraying carb cleaner into air intake but no change
cleared fault code and customer coming back next week to get sorted
could this be a faulty lambda sensor or could stretched timing chain or something else cause the sensor to stay at 0.00v

assuming wiring checked ok ?
why not remove sensor and test it
or bite the bullet and change it and stand the cost if your wrong HTH

a gas test will confirm if the reading is correct.

Is that sensor voltage measured of serial ?

hi aidan dont have gas tester unfortunately
checked voltage serially and with dmm

No output can only mean faulty sensor, I usually just do a few WOT revs to confirm.

Hi Kev,

Agree with Chris, suspect faulty sensor. If it has more than one wire, do you have readings on the other wires.

Too much air or not enough fuel, check archives for my post on similar car AMM cured it, get genuine, not a Chinese copy from e bay

Hi

Agree with Malcom could be AMM

Voltage of AMM on idle and WOT against voltage of O2?

Does pre cat O2 sensor change on WOT test?

Post cat O2 sensor shows system lean (low voltage= excessive oxygen)

Stretched timing chain normally gives fault code for camshaft position sensor

this is sorted
replaced sensor and got reading
reset fault codes and took for road test
long term fuel trim came down to near 0%
