Audi A3 1.6FSI BAG engine - How does this system work? #

Year of Manufacture *: 2003
Engine Size and Code *: 1.6 BAG

Can anybody point me towards a description of how this system works, with particular reference to the layout and function of the emissions system. A way of definitivly testing the various Lambda/NOX sensors would be of particular help.

Hi Paul,

What you ask for is I feel beyond the scope of this forum.
The fuel and the emission control systems are very involved on this type of vehicle.

If you are interested Bosch deliver a two day course just on this range of vehicles. (VSG 11)

VAG produce a SSP (Self Study Program)on this range that you may be able to find on the net.

What is wrong with your vehicle?

Hi Paul, the FSI on that year is probably first generation. It will have pre supply pump in tank and high pressure pump at engine. The high pressure should be between 30 and 100 bar depending on throttle. The pre supply about 5 bar. The injectors and controoled by the ecu which provides the supply and the earth. The lambda is probably teh normal step type but you will know by the number of wires on it. What is the issue and I can probably give more precise info. Jim

That's really usefull info, cheers.
I have come across these vw self study sites but normally they are in German and I have not been able to find out how to translate from the site.

Any tips?
