Peugeot 307 1.6 NFU 2004 - Code P0571 Brake / Cruise control switch - Unresolved #

Year of Manufacture *: 2004 (December)
Engine Size and Code *: 1600 / NFU
( Optional ) Scanner Used: Dec Superscan
( Optional) Fault Codes: P0571

Have the fault code P0571(Brake / Cruise control switch) in the engine system that wont clear, checked brake switch (only 2 wires on late MY04), that's operating OK, checked live data in BSI and it's showing as operating ok ( all brake lights working. Also checked operation of clutch switch and that's OK. Fault will not clear - has anyone come across this before please?

Are you sure that there is not another switch in the circuit?

Have you looked at a wiring daigram for the vehicle?

Only one viable switch and autodata technical confirmed this

Unplug the brake/clutch switch and see if it brings up a different code

Try disconnecting the battery for 5 mins, after allowing the BSI to go to sleep. Then see if it will clear.

It did clear once when i had the brake pressed but returned after releasing the pedal, code does not change if switch unplugged or removed and does not change after battery removal etc.

Did also have an issue with high level brake lamp not working fully, not repaired and even tried a full negative on switched side of connector to simulate a good earth through lamps.

Try looking at brake pressure sensor in the abs and comparing it with the brake light function have seen similar fault on other vehicles possibly a Citroen.
The brake lights were coming on long before pressure was showing and the code was actually for brake circuit coherence

Had P307 1.4 KFU in yesterday with engine management light on,code read with SP Diagnostic SPi
and got codes D218 unknown error and 0571 which on look up is P0571. Inconsistency between the 2 stop switches,intermittent.Fitted new brake light switch and tried to clear codes.Would not clear going through Peugeot so went in on EOBD and they cleared checked through Peugeot and codes had cleared.
