Hi We have a very low mileage (25,600) Fiesta 16 valve 1.25 automatic, it belongs to a family that has had it for several years and the car is pristine to be fair. The problem of late is that the car frequently stalls when put in to drive from park or neutral, particularly when cold as though the air metering valve is not adjusting quickly enough to demand. However when trying to access the engine ECU to see what is going on and get some data, we are unable to get in to it. We have tried 3 different machines and still no joy. Using a break out box from the diagnostic socket, the live feed and earth are both ok, and having taken the ECU out and checked the wiring to the multi-plug all the live feeds are present, and all the earth's with the exception of pin 27, which on the autodata information on this model appears to go via a 'pats' unit I think!! Question is have any of you come across this before on this model, or am I missing something, as at the moment it is looking like an ECU issue, however given the mileage and the cars condition I cant understand at the moment why this should be the case!!
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys Roger
Re: Ford Fiesta 1.25 Petrol Auto - No access to ECU!!
Hi Roger, i had the same problem some years ago.its the auto box i think they were a daf autobox. fords could not get them right. they were a common problem when you put it into drive they would stall.i had mine repaired. but it was never right. i think bmw took the boxes over then they modified them and they were okay. Re: Ford Fiesta 1.25 Petrol Auto - No communication with ECU!!
Hi Greg Thanks for your response, as I understand it this is a completely hydraulic box with no electronic ECU, so while I think the box may be an issue to a degree it doesn't explain why I cant get any comms with the engine ECU, and I need to establish comms to be sure!! Roger

I use to add to 2 forte automatic gearbox additives drive the car for 40 to 50 mile drain oil and refill adding another forte, use to find customers came back after a few minutes saying every thing was now fine do we still have to do the oil change ray

I found that the old Sykes ACR4 with the blue 16 pin lead would read these with the most success, it is right that Ford used a different pin configuration to virtually everyone else.

Hi Mark, Sykes had a special connector 30213300 for these which plugged into the car 16 pin DLC but had a 3 pin triangular connector on the other end to connect to the old 30213000 lead. Dec also had a special lead that you had to ask for. Regards Steve Harvey
