Toyota Corolla 1.4 2006 - Revs hang high - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2006
Engine Size and Code *: 1.4 petrol
( Optional ) Scanner Used: kts
( Optional) Fault Codes: non

hi guys.

I have a corolla in, the revs are hanging
high 4000 rpm as soon as you turn the key.

No fault codes. Cleaned throttle out ,still same.
live data shows throttle pot at 93% ,but throttle is
closed. is it throttle body ,wire or ecu. If you disconnect idle vale drop by 1000,but still not
right. Auto data shows some cars had ecu fault.
anyone had this fault.

The engine will need a lot of air to rev to 4000 rpm, so if the throttle plate is shut, it,s getting it from somewhere. Smoke the inlet as a first port of call.

Hi Paul

I remember having something similar some time back on an older Corolla where the throttle potentiometer was giving an incorrect reading.
Does the value increase when you press the throttle?
It's awhile back, but if I remember correctly, I reset it by holding the throttle fully open and disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes and reconnecting with the throttle still fully open. Something like this, but it's a while back.

Fixed

scoped the throttle pot,too find voltage
raised too 4.8 volts but did not return. Inspected
tp sensor too find return spring broken. I also
had to reset basic setting. £40.00 for a tp
sensor from Blue-Print
