VW Golf 1.4 TSi CAXA - New valves and chain but still a misfire #

Year of Manufacture *: 08
Engine Size and Code *: 1.4 tsi caxa

Hi

Just rebuilt the head on this valves were badly carboned up, new valves and chain but its still intermittent misfiring not coils as swapped them around, clear codes and runs fine then starts to misfire at certain revs, I think its shutting the injectors off as I have heard these engines are very sensitive to misfire, anyone heard off this ?

You say new valves, but what about the guides & seats ?
Its normally the guides that go they the valves burn out ?

i posted this problem a while ago but since then the engine went paired shaped and i ended up fitting another engine for the customer,the original engine had a misfire vw fitted a new injector charged the guy £452, the misfire was still there a week later they then tell him he needed a new engine, i stripped it replace valves chain etc but misfire still there but not as often,any way i fitted another engine s/h but out of a 2010 golf only done 20,000 miles it started up great sounded great, but every now and then the mil light flashes you cant feel a misfire but it registers a misfire could it be a software problem sorry for long post ,

There have been a number of modifications to this engine involving software, spark plugs, camshafts, injectors......

A bit of a dog unfortunately, take it to a dealer or AL VAG equipped workshop to start with a software check, there is a relevant software update for reported misfires without a customer complaint on certain software versions. If it's in need of an update this is a starting point on this engine, it may have deeper issues in need of a wallet check on the customer.

thanks jon the customer is german and its a left hand drive,he bought it off his father but now lives over here,he told me in germany they are having lots of problems with the FSI engines and a lot of warranty work being done i did tell him to run it on super unleaded to see if that helped,i runs as sweet as a nut but the ecu is obviously turning a injector off to save the cat,they must be very sensitive to combustion failure of some sort.

car came back in today misfire on random cylinders,p0301 p0302 p0303 p0304cleared codes it runs as sweet as a nut but get the revs up to 2500 and it starts to misfire get it over 3000 and it does not misfire,i did read up that there is a earth
point behind the n/s head lamp for ignition coils so cleaned them up, but still the same any ideas before i send it off for a sortware check ?

customer has taken vehicle back to vw for a software update
