Smart 600cc 2002 - Lack of boost - Unresolved #

( Optional ) Scanner Used: KTS

Hi everyone
I have a Smart that came into us with a lack of boost. We have replaced the turbo acutuator and got boost back, but we are still getting a light on and fault
MEG 1.0
1. Error memory Number of errors: 1 13:51
75 Boost pressure limit valve Break/make

Mode 3, Static errors:
*P0243 Turbocharger wastegate solenoid

The fault clears ok and the first time you start it after the clear, it will start and drive, but the second time you start the light comes on a few seconds after startup regardless of whether you rev the engine or not.

I have scoped the solenoid and am getting a trace similar to an injector with a spike up to 68 volts
My pico is away for repair and I am relying on the scope on my kTS 570 which doesnt have current clamp.

I was expecting to see a pwm on/off signal.
Can anyone tell me if this signal is correct ?

Hi, maybe way off but I had similar problem the other week and it was the lever on the turbo sticking, I freed it with wd40.

Hi,I had a boost code problem on a smart last week and traced it to a leak on the back side of the intercooler,the air ducting/cowling had chaffed the core and wore it through,repaired it with chemical metal and has been ok since.maybe worth checking

Sorry, forgot to post an update.
The turbo actuator cured the lack of boost, but the light would still come on, However the customer was unwilling to authorise any further time looking into it and took it away with the light on.
Saw the vehicle a couple of weeks ago and she si still driving it about happily with the light on

On to the next one ...
