VW Golf 1.6 FSi BLF 2005 - Oil pressure fault #

Year of Manufacture *: 2005
Engine Size and Code *: 1600 fsi BLF

Good morning

I have a Golf (1.6 FSI, BLF engine code, 59000 mile)in at present with oil warning light coming on.

Once its warmed up - after 5 or 6 mile drive - this will start flashing. I have removed the sensor and measured the oil pressure = about 5 psi at idle!

Can anyone tell me do these engines suffer with oil pump failure, pick up clogging etc.

Oh yes its a car from a used car pitch, they have already done an oil and filter change to try and sort this but it is no better.

can you see oil pressure in live data? where is it when it flashes? has the switch been replaced?

I haven't bothered checking in live data as I connected a gauge and read the actual pressure, thus proving that low oil pressure is being reported correctly by the warning light.

No it's not had the switch replaced as with the actual pressure being so low it should be bringing the warning light on.

oil pump fitted

no obvious crank damage, although I had read somewhere not to remove the main bearings on this engine.

After road test still the same.

Told customer it needs replacement engine.

have you checked the pick up in the sump? 5 psi is low, is there any indication that it is burning oil ie blue smoke? what oil has been put into engine?
