Truth is, in my opinion, they work as a means to let off steam and to show one another there's support there, both of which are good things.
But as far as changing public opinion goes, they just don't work. Unreported - even the really huge ones - so unseen by 99% of people they have no impact.
The targeted ones outside BBC (and Fraudian) offices have more chance of being effective.
