Israel's military leaders must realise what the rest of us do - that the US has not decisively won any war since Eisenhower crossed the Elbe. Why put any faith in the US riding to the rescue? Clearly, the goal here is as Assange identified - endless war not a successful one. I just don't get why the Israeli population can't see what a disaster they are blindly supporting.
