Well that's another factor which I missed out above; supression. As Palast says (and tends to solely concentrate on lately where I would rather he widen his focus) there is a lot of this going on. I doubt it accounts for many millions of votes but I wouldn't be surprised if it was making a significant difference in a lot of places. Georgia is the poster child for this particular style of election frigging.

The figures above did come from Wiki so the usual caveats apply but they seem to tally. The BBC has them slightly higher now:

Dem 73,747,680
Rep 76,444,504

so now they are only 5.5mill down on 2020 which really makes it easy to find that figure by combining "defection" from D to R, third-party, supression and apathy.

I guess we'll see if anything else comes out, but if they use accurate figures it doesn't look so wildy out of step.
