I think that the fact that Manufacturing Consent didnt mention Operation Mockingbird is quite telling. For me, the command and control elements in media manipulation were badly neglected.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) this detracts from the credibilty of historians like Peter Dale Scott whose work on deep events as he calls them sits much more comfortably with a command and control model.

Maybe thats why Chomsky used to get his books prominently displayed in the window at my nearest Waterstones.
