Colbert grabs his head and his fingers stretch apart when Danes mentions CIA journo connection.
He pretty much outs himself in this clip.

This seemed quite relevant to recent thread regarding the 5 filters.

Nice one. Dore et al seems to be better at highlighting collusion of Hollywood with CIA .. by analysing this particular interview, than let's say 'culture wars' that he 'normally' does.

It was worthwhile repeating the relevant clips from the show, to my mind, time and again, for his gold-fish audience .. which includes me.

I get yer point about 5 filters, but I reckon that this 'collusion' is a subgroup of one of the original Chomsky/Hermann filters. I can expand if necc .. it takes time.

I think that the fact that Manufacturing Consent didnt mention Operation Mockingbird is quite telling. For me, the command and control elements in media manipulation were badly neglected.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) this detracts from the credibilty of historians like Peter Dale Scott whose work on deep events as he calls them sits much more comfortably with a command and control model.

Maybe thats why Chomsky used to get his books prominently displayed in the window at my nearest Waterstones.

The part about the independence and suspicion of the CIA from the president is the most relevant for me.

The US security apparatus is in charge. The president, and by extension the Prime Minister are just window dressing. Was it Pompeo that said they could not let Corbyn become prime minister.

Saw some rubbish on TV a few years ago - might have been Bourne. A rogue CIA leader was opening that we little people don't know the facts, don't understand how much we owe them and in order to protect us any actions including torture and murder are justified.

I expect that's another line fed by some agency which believes the same. Softening us up, making us think it's a rational position.

Necrophiles are in charge. Not enough love.
