* Drop all non association orders
* Access to all activities and courses
* Heba back in HMP Bronzefield
Prisoners for Palestine Statement 23/12/25
After 48 and 49 days respectively of hunger strike, when many prisoners are
facing imminent death, Qesser Zuhrah and Amu Gib now formally pause their hunger
strike.
Heba Muraisi, Teuta Hoxha, Kamran Ahmed and Lewie Chiamarello will continue to
refuse food on the basis of the five demands, as well as specifying their
demands to include the end of all non-association orders between ON prisoners;
Heba's transfer back to HMP Bronzefield; and she same access to all courses and
activities as sentenced prisoners.
Non-association orders are used to further isolate prisoners from each other
despite being in the same prison; just as Heba has been isolated by being moved
across the country, away from her family and friends in London. Due to the
extended period of time on remand, well over the usual six month legal limit, it
is only fair that the prisoners are able to access the same activities as
everyone else.
----
During the Christmas recess in parliament, legal action is being taken against
the government as they, and prison officials, have breached their own policy by
failing to engage, address, and attempt to resolve the strike.
By failing to abide by their own procedures, the government has exposed and
shamed themselves even further. As Teuta Hoxha said, the hunger strike has put a
mirror up to the corrupt and genocidal system which imprisons them. Whilst we
will never find justice from the oppressors, we are able to expose the true face
of our system to the country, and the world. We can create our own justice, just
as those who take direct action do.
No matter the response of the government, the hunger strikers are victorious,
due to the people rising up for them and for Palestinian liberation. Their self
sacrifice has made the world rise up in righteous rage at the injustice they,
and the Palestinian people, face at the hands of those in power.
----
It has brought global attention to the government's involvement in the genocide
of the Palestinian people, to the extent of willingly disregarding the lives and
rights of their own citizens in service of a foreign genocidal regime. Despite
the best efforts of the British state, they refuse to go quietly into the night.
At a time of worsening political repression of the international movement for
Palestinian liberation, this hunger strike stands as a testament to our
continued defiance and is a landmark moment for all of us. They have raised the
profile of their political detention to new heights, and politicised the general
public to an incredible extent.
As Qesser Zuhrah said at the start of the hunger strike: "The day we began our
hunger strike was the day we were victorious, because we were not seized by fear
nor despair."
