I think it's really sad and irritating that Viner, who I think is the first woman to occupy such a position, editor in chief of a great national daily newspaper, which an impressive reputation - internationally too... that she's so hopeless at her job, demonsterably hopeless in fact. Quality control is important for the Guardian's reputation. Allowing Harding to usurp an editor's role is unforgivable. Allowing the Russia/Assange muck to be published instead of thrown in the wastepaper basket and then flushed down the toilet is a staggering mistake. That Viner hasn't even got the guts and sense to admit to her gargantuan mistake, shows even more how she's out of her depth and lacks the qualities required. Why couldn't we have had a great woman editor in charge, someone with amazing standards, not someone who got the job because she was the right and fashionable gender at this particular media time? Editor in Chief, more like idiot in chief!
