Ah yes, the old, "I-was-a-revolutionary-in-my-youth-and-then-came-to-my-senses" trope; a classic of the establishment liberal genre. What reactionary drivel: a pseudo-intellectual gloss on stale status-quo apologia. If I want to read someone whose work truly explains what is happening now, and who is unsettling and properly radical, it is Sigmund Freud I turn to. Yes, Freud is "properly radical" which is to say, not radical at all. For Marx, reflection leads to inevitably antagonistic class relations Actually Suzanne, for Marx it is the brutal exploitation of labour by elites that leads inevitably to antagonistic class relations, not the reflection that reveals the class basis of this exploitation. And it is not the "craving for authority" that has led to Corbyn's popularity, but the rejection of the very top-down, anti-democratic authoritarianism that neoliberal elite rule and the liberals at the Guardian represent. But nice try.
