I think when Arthur said 'sovs' he was really referring to thatchers: pound coins that someone Archived Message

described as "thatchers: thick, brassy, and thinks it's a sovereign!" As you know C, when I say sovs I mean the real - gold - thing. I suspect that cryptos may yet prove to be authentic thatchers, and not altogether reliable as a genuine store of value - like the wretched woman herself. Erm - as we see in this case under discussion, no...? And what becomes of all that blockchained 'wealth' when - not if - the internet goes down? Even after that upshot, my family's little stashes of twenty-something carat coins, held in their own personal hidey-holes, will continue to hold value, and will be exchangeable for needed goods and services. I don't condemn cryptos. I just don't buy the balmy, rather unrealistic enthusiasm about them that the techno-eega-beevas display. The Long Descent is going to offer them a certain amount of harsh education about the realities of their unsustainable hitech-industrial-progressforever world, I suspect. I think you're wise to hold your savings in more than one basket. Stick with that! The best basket of all is - eternally-useful skills and the tools to enable them; and a local community that respects you personally, and values your contributive membership... Cheers, C!
