"It was cheap theatre, and Cortez is a girl - every sign of immaturity, low-level intelligence, party line mentality, narcissism and opportunism is plain as day obvious!" Obvious to you and Jordan's acolytes maybe, but I consider it ridiculous. In fact I consider her politics/economic analysis much more mature than yours, which seems unable to come to terms with the most elementary features of capitalism and ties itself into intellectual pretzels trying to pretend it's only the excesses of the system are problematic, and creates fantasies about a nice, tidy, regulated incarnation of it that will preserve "free enterprise" - which, in your political infancy, you to seem to equate to human freedom - and save us from the scary Lucifer called socialism. (i note that Jordan includes Castro and Marx among the bulging-eyed demons). The fact that you continue to defend that system even as it extinguishes every life-system on the planet while dismissing everyone and every movement trying to change it, however imperfectly, is pretty revealing, as is the fact that you defend grotesque capitalist oligarchs like Trump and attack progressive, socialist-leaning politicians like Ocasio Cortez. Her significant policy positions, free health care (which she calls a human right), free secondary education, higher taxes on the very rich, amount to a rejection of neoliberal economics and are not "party line", they're the opposite. That's why she was elected. And that's why she's disliked and feared within the party. Neither you nor I know whether her activity within the system to change it is a net good or a net evil for effecting the fundamental social and political change needed since there is no objective way to measure it. It could corral public dissent into a dead end, or it could be the beginning of a Corbyn-type insurgency to take over the party. I happen to think everything should be tried in this terminal phase of human civilization, and I applaud her, while wishing she could resist the party machinery with more courage in some cases. An argument can be made for her politics, unlike those of the closet-neoliberal Jordan Peterson. Didn't he consider a run for the war-mongering, imperialist, neoliberal neanderthals known as the Conservative Party of Canada? (with apologies to Neanderthals)
