The press report is ambiguous. Did the BBC decide to de-commission the programme after which Neil stepped down (well he'd have to, wouldn't he, if there was no programme) or did he decide to step down and then the BBC de-commissioned it? It's not clear.
The main thing, however, is that we'll be spared any more of Brillo and (like last night) his two right-wing toadies Portillo and Johnson who sit smirking on the sofa. Both non-entities. But they might be replaced by somebody worse (groan!) when the new political programme is commissioned.
