Luke Hardon's partner in crimes against journalism, Shaun Walker, returns with the latest "throw it against the wall and see if we can get any to stick" "exclusive" about someone else who was attacked with Novichok but miraculously survived although, to be fair...

The first sign that something was wrong with Emilian Gebrev was an itchy, bloodshot eye after a dinner in April 2015. The next day he had strange visions of flashing lasers, followed by uncontrollable vomiting

He did have a bloodshot eye. It must have been that slow-acting Novichok that takes at least 24 hours to have an effect.

    Other gems include:

Now, nearly four years after the Bulgarian arms dealer was on the verge of death after a suspected poisoning, British investigators are in Sofia to determine whether the incident could be linked to the 2018 poisoning of Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia with novichok in Salisbury.

This is just comedy gold. Of course the usual suspects are involved:

Travel records show the man Bellingcat identified as Sergeev visited Bulgaria in April 2015 and was present in the country during the time Gebrev went into a coma.

I was in Paris when Diana died, it doesn't mean I was driving the ####ing car.

Not sure why anyone would want to kill a nice cuddly arms dealer...

He said he had done no business with Russia, and had not or worked with Russian partners or middlemen. He had some contracts with Ukraine, but insisted they were “peanuts, small amounts, low tech”.

    Hmmm.

Trying to remember the sequence of events around the suspected poisoning is challenging for Gebrev, who is often hazy on details. Shown a photograph of the man Bellingcat identified as Sergeyev, Gebrev said he did not recognise him.

What you bring him in here for? He ain't the guy! (Dylan)

Hamish de Bretton-Gordon, a chemical weapons expert, said the Finnish lab results were inconclusive, but suggested that Gebrev was probably poisoned with a pesticide rather than a weapons-grade agent.

Ha! Inconclusive in this context means "not what we want it to be".

So the end result is some arms dealer falls ill before he meets some Russians, neither of whom are the supposed GRU superspy/nerve agent dispenser, and then it's found he wasn't poisoned with a nerve agent or weapons grade chemical and the only link to the Skripal scam is that a bloke that some lying w.hore of the empire says is a Russian spy was in Bulgaria the same month that he fell ill.

I don't know about you but I'm convinced. Where do I subscribe for more of this hard-hitting, rigorously sourced investigative journalism?
