I think it's important to understand that the 'economy' will face massive disruption as climate catastrophe kicks in, long before the worst physical effects manifest themselves, though most of them are now probably inevitable at a later date. This economic disruption will have a profoundly negative effect on our politics, which'll get even worse than they are today. Given our culture and 'human nature', it'll resemble the raft 'Medusa' after the shipwreck, but on a global scale. Is there any hope? Proably not, given the culture we've created over the last century. If things don't change radically, meaning a kind of revolution which introduces a dictatorship, I think we'll slide into a WW3 type scenario, which seems to be how we deal with massive structural problems, unfortunately. The worsening economh will produce more leaders like Trump, not fewer. I think our civilsation, as it's currently configured is doomed.
