I wasn't feeling defensive, just feeling matter of fact. Re anti bigots; there are definitely arguments for your perspective but Australia is more akin to Israel than Canada I think. The actual direct result turmoil and oppression continues there with real fear in the indigenous populations in certain areas despite being mostly peaceable individuals. It doesn't take much provocation for brutality against indigenous folk to occur but it takes a lot (more than I'm aware of) for it to be dealt with by the law. That's outside the realm of words hurting feelings and more inline with the early 20th c lynchings of the states. The bigots are the ones both creating and supporting this mentality, which is why it's a short step from one side to the other when it comes to fabricated racism (like the wot). And yeah, we can agree or disagree with the importance of that, but for me every example like this is a reminder that as long as I've been offshore from oz, little has changed.
