Govt of national unity means exit little democracy we had left. Trialled I'm guessing, by brexit referendum where it turns out people are happy to ditch a public vote if they don't like the result. But really it just means abandoning the pretense there was ever a difference between the main parties (or for that matter that any other than 2 had a chance). Like innocence till proved guilty in the courtroom, the right to a public vote being respected needs to be stood by resolutely thick or thin, not just when I'm winning. I'm in two minds about all this. One side being we've never had actual democracy, and it's all been make believe. The other is, govt openly admitting this by leading to ignoring a vote and key players suggesting tories and labour join show were going that step further. Seems like boiling frogs to me, but so strong is our imperative to win it would seem we will forego our principles if it means we get what we want. It will be interesting to see how all this pans out. I don't see any serious protest on the horizon though!
