You didn't take in a stitch of what I said, did you?
The statistics show that YEARLY abortions in N. America alone approach ONE MILLION. MOST of these are purely elective abortions of healthy fetuses by healthy mothers.
Keith is an anti-abortion absolutist. I am not.
You are a Women's Choice absolutist. I am not.
The main driver to get abortion legalized was safety. People were getting injured or killed by having illegal abortions performed on them by poorly trained people. So pressure mounted for professional and regulated services to become available.
The deranged Marxist-fueled feminists turned this into a political cause and confused a safety issue with a freedom issue. Like all rights- and freedom-obsessed ideologies, a certain dialectics takes control of their minds so feverishly that ONE set of things are utterly and totally and violently DISCARDED in favour of another set. And so it is utterly impossible to reason with such people on any moral, intellectual, philosophical or political level.
I repeat: Keith is an anti-abortion absolutist. You are a pro-abortion absolutist.
I am neither. I just simply despise a society that confuses irresponsibility for freedom, thereby endorsing, promoting and celebrating cults of irresponsibility.
People can debate about when a fetus becomes a human till the cows come home. One thing, though, is absolutely not debatable: A woman becomes a mother at the moment of conception. At the subtlest biological level, her body becomes mother, and at the subtlest psychic level, she becomes mother. It is not accurate to say a woman aborts her fetus. It is more accurate to say a MOTHER discards her CHILD.
Abortion should be strictly regulated, and the moral aspect of one should always be regretted regardless, just like assisted death.
It's a matter of values, and we should never allow ourselves to become complacent in the face of declining societal values, of the rapidly eroding sense of the sacred.
People give me the old argument that abortion as easy and flippant as I make it out to be, because it is a traumatic experience for the woman. Of course it is! You're a mother destroying your child, and you are violently disrupting your biological processes. And yet, despite this massive affront to instinct and Natural Law, millions are aborted worldwide every single year. Because responsibility is hard to face, and freedom is easier to buy. Because feminist indoctrination convinces millions that it's okay. Because they are easily available.
Meanwhile pornography, polyamory, and promiscuity are normalized and through the roof, divorce rates skyrocket, and the children who aren't lucky enough to be aborted are raised in single parent homes with TV and the Internet as main guardian, and the pain of their damaged psychic/emotional development is placated by Big Pharma and Liberal Ideology (feelings-based justice).
To chuck values for the sake of freedom is to welcome hell on earth.
