https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2019/04/20/pers-a20.html Essentially, the American ruling class sees the election of a man like Trump, lifted into the White House by a wave of popular discontent with the entire system, as a threat to 'democracy.' The threat is really that of 'democracy' falling out of the elite's control and threatening their rule. I've always found US democracy rather amusing. A nominal democracy, so obviously controlled by a tiny, but incredibly powerful economic elite. The irony that Trump is one of them too, is a bit odd. Probably its his 'unvetted' status and his tendency to break political taboos, that make him unacceptable.
