I think the tipping point for the Gaurdain came during the controversy over the publication of the Snowden leaks, when they capitulated to the UK Security Services and the UK state. When they allowed the SS into their offices and let them oversee the physical destruction of the computer hard-drives and listened to them making humouress remarks about this being preferable to some kind of drone attack! The Guardian at this point had a golden, historic, opportunity, that I'd have given my right arm for, to tell the SS to go #### itself and I'll see you in court, mate! Imagine being sent to prison as the Guardian's editor in chief over that. The international publicity alone linked to a trial would have been worth millions. It was a win, win situation for the Guardian. But they didn't resist, they capitulated and buckled under pressure, when they could hage taken their defence all the way to the European Court of Human Rights and milked the situation for every drop of free publicity and cast themselves in the role of David vs. Goliath and underscored the character of the Guardian's brand of fearless journalism and the public's right to know what crimes the West was involved in, unlawful acts icluding murder of unaremed civilians and journalists too. What a waste of a golden opportunity. From then on, it's all been downhill towards, hopefully, finacial ruin and oblivion. Can't come soon enough for me. Bunch of mother####ing cowards that they are.
