Why this issue came up for me, is that XR is going international and young South Africans are interested in the XR movement, too, and this particular image of the Attenborough vs Putin poster went viral on certain social media sites. Debates arose about whether politically-aware people can commit to XR if it's going to get involved in particular types of ill-informed or naive political posturing. (ie that image proved divisive among certain groups of people, is all I'm saying. Please don't shoot the messenger: if people here would rather not hear reflections from the other side of the planet, I'll refrain). The Guardian (George Monbiot, etc) are keen on XR and promoting it and we know that The Guardian is anti-Putin, so questions are asked about what this poster means? As we're in the southern hemisphere and cannot get to witness these UK protests, people wondered whether this poster was a one-off or whether it is an official XR statement or position? Sorry that these questions are perceived as "condescending", they aren't intended that way.
