It could be a false impression, but it seems that under Trump there are more instances of high level mask-slippage than with previous administrations. Whether it's Bolton talking on Fox News about the economic benefits of taking over Venezuelan oil, or a US official claiming the effect of the sanctions on the country is "sort of like in Star Wars when Darth Vader constricts somebody’s throat”, there seems to be a trend towards frankness about the US' imperial gangsterism, and an admission that human rights, international law, state sovereignty, etc, are all pretences. The latest case, reported by RT, is US ambassador to Russia, Jon Huntsman saying there is little need for negotiations "When you have 200,000 tons of diplomacy that is cruising in the Mediterranean. – this is what I call diplomacy, this is forward operating diplomacy – nothing else needs to be said." https://www.rt.com/news/457380-mediterranean-aicraft-carriers-diplomacy/
It makes one wonder if the mask really is slipping or if these things are calculated.
