I don't get this bit: "As the only reason Julian Assange ever claimed asylum was that he saw the Swedish allegations as a ruse to get him into custody for extradition to the US, I would also say that should a warrant from Sweden arrive he should now voluntarily go without further legal resistance, the US extradition point being overtaken." Why can the US not obtain extradition from Sweden? Assange's position has always been he would go to Sweden if there was a guarantee he wouldn't be extradited. Not sure what's changed in that respect. Maybe I'm missing something. On another tack, Murray has a point about Swedish authorities appearing to have lost interest, but I think he's a bit ranty elsewhere. If he wants he can have, as the reason for the allegations, 'feminist mantras' or CIA plots, but to promote both as explanations seems a bit much. If the 'feminist mantras' are a bad thing it's a justice issue, not because of the possibility of rare plots. If the mantras are right there is a significant benefit for the safety of millions of women which would hardly be outweighed by the possibility they might occasionally be abused. Maybe he just didn't want to get into the complexities of 'feminist mantras'.
