Yes. I'm not keen on this article, it assumes the governments of the UK and Sweden are going to weigh up the issues in objective legal terms, rather than start from the viewpoint of what they themselves actually want to happen. The UK Home Secretary "would have to weigh factors...." like - what does the US government want! The US might prefer extradition to Sweden so they can have two bites at the cherry - why would they mind any long delays, the long persecution game suits them as it keeps negative Assange stories in the news. Even if he was actually charged in Sweden and found guilty he could still be extradited or re-arrested when he got out. The letter in this link, from "more than 70 U.K. lawmakers, mostly from the opposition Labour party" puzzled me. The political composition aside, that's a bit of bother to go to for a request that hasn't been made yet. Why wouldn't they wait for "any request" to arrive? Do they think it wouldn't be made public? And does that mean there could already be an informal request off the record? Your first link is interesting too. If there's collusion to the extent that Assange could be extradited to Sweden for the purpose of a re-extradition, I'm not sure it would matter if the case was technically weak. I don't have much to offer, I maybe just have even less faith in the legal system than you do! I'm afraid if I had to choose, I'd bet on my scepticism that the legal systems can withstand the wishes of the governments (especially the US govt), over trusting legal wisdom. Cheers
