"I don’t know what other people’s thoughts are, but I have always found Caroline Lucas to be a distinctly suspect character. NGO background, polished, and managerial - if she really cared about the environment, surely her strategy for a general election would be to encourage people to vote for Corbyn?" I've been a Green voter for decades (with a few exceptions when they don't stand), and voted Green in the LCE, however, I fully intend to vote for Corbyn (not for Labour), at any general election if he is still leading his party. I've met Caroline Lucas a couple of times..she's an academic wedded to certain mainstream academic assumptions and their status quo...my fellow campaigners and I had terrible trouble trying to get her to accept that both municipal and commercial waste (esp. plastic), incineration is as dangerous a practice (in its own way), and deserving of opposition as are both nuclear power and fracking...We found that the implications of opposing "waste-to-heat", the loss-leader that is both administrated and run by the oil industry for its own purposes, are too profound for many green-welly wearing (so-called), environmentalists, it's only recently that Green politicians like Natalie Bennet have begun to listen more carefully to our concerns and begun to raise the profile of anti-incineration campaigning within the Green Party. It is, however, true that the Greens (incl. Lucas), oppose nuclear power whilst the other parties (incl. Labour), still believe that it represents a carbon friendly solution to Climate Change, so a Green vote should not be seen as a wasted vote or a pro-establishment act..without the Greens articulating an anti-nuclear stance such would not be either part of our political debate or narrative of opposition...
