It's kind of weired how centrally important and powerful allegations relating to 'sex crimes' have become in western society. Is it just a reaction to the perceived excesses of the 'swinging sixties', the big, bad, social pendulum swinging in the opposite direction for a while, or is it more significant? That our attitudes towards sexual behaviour aren't constant and never changing, seems clear, so why do so many people appear so passionate about what's happening today; after all, the chances are attitudes will change again at some point in the future. Is there, as I suspect, a casual link between prosperity and sexual norms and behaviour? Given how 'fluid' these norms are, why do people get so upset about transgressions in our own age? Is it because a lot of people have been 'educated' to think that we're moving up a gleaming stairway of progress, rather than we're trapped inside a maze or we're merely sitting on a great swing?
