What characterises the corporate/state media today, and increasingly so, is how little room there is anymore for dissenting views or real criticism. The Guardian, which used to provide space for the occasional voice of protest or alternative view, has clamped down, especially in relation to 'national security', which kind of covers almost everything these days. Clearly the editors have been subjected to briefings by the security services, provided with information and assessments about 'terrorism' and Russia, that can't be made public, and this has had a effect. Who, in the current climate, is willing not question the 'framing narrative' provided by the state security services, people dedicated to protecting us from harm? That would be like saying one didn't trust them or they had a hidden agenda. Today, dissent is tanatmount to treason, and that indicates that we now live in a form of 'liberal' but really a totalitarian state.
