All of these are key parts of Mam Gaia's battery of negative-feedback mechanisms to correct periodic imbalances in ecosystems, as they develop. This will be a pretty hairy experience for the generations of humankind who have to struggle through it, but a clear benefit to the whole-Earth life-system, and ultimately to the human inheritors of this corrective, rebalancing period; to all the surviving inheritor species in fact, since hom sap should never be viewed in isolation from the rest of "Earth's beauty-dress/ Her life-robe", on which we humans depend absolutely for our continued existence.
