One would imagine, given the rise of poverty in the UK, the number of children living in poor households, contrasted with the luxurious lives of the rich, that the left would have produced a great swathe of articulate and dynamic leaders willing and ready to take up the cause of radical economic and social change. That it hasn't is both an indictment and somewhat of a mystery. What happened? I think it's strange. Boris Johnson and Farage seem bold and full of vigour, both charlatans and political opportunists; but where are their counterparts on the left? The Labour leadership seems dull and sleepy, afraid of their own PLP and Corbyn doesn't exactly inspire confidence as a person ready and equiped to face up to Johnson and Farage.
