It's an incredible novel and its reputation will only continue to grow given it's only relatively recently been available in English. The translation and release of "Stalingrad" can only add to that. I have a copy and it's next on my massive 'to read' list but I think I will move it somewhere near the top. The thread in "Life and Fate" that ends in the gas chamber is one of the few times I have been close to stunned by a work of fiction and had to stop reading and just sit quietly, recovering. It's also one of the few books I've bought copies of to give to people.
