Your post reads like a long winded excuse to abandon the ideals of strong character. You also fail to comprehend my criticism in the context of the insidious trends in modern leftist movements which promote ideas and values which actually pervert and destroy moral character, reason and truth. "The way I see it, CJ is not suggesting that our valued principles ought to be 'abandoned', rather, we never saw them adequately realised in the first instance." "We" never achieved strong moral character? "We" and the state are one? Our culture is the enemy? I don't know what you are trying to say. But what I am trying to say is progressive voices (if they are to be truly progressive) should encourage and inspire strength, courage, reason and integrity in truth rather than resentment and irrational radicalism. Irrational radicalism is extremely delicious and outstandingly addictive. The End of the World is its perfect excuse. But Mayday situations require captains and stewards of impeccable competence, courage, calm, focus, and intelligence. Stop agitating the kids and then letting them take charge! G'day. turtleman
