Apologies, I got part of that headline wrong Only silence from The Guardian regarding governmental replies to the UN Rapporteur. It's Italian journalist Stefania Maurizi (who does what Guardian journalists should do... and applies FOIA from UK Courts) writes in La Repubblica:

USA and Sweden deny all accusations.

The British and Ecuadorian authorities have not yet responded to the UN Special Rapporteur's conclusions on Julian Assange, while the US and Sweden promptly replied.

    They deny everything:
Julian Assange has never been arbitrarily detained by Sweden and Britain, as the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (UNWGAD) established four years ago: he stayed in the Embassy voluntarily and could have left at any time, the US and Sweden say.

This denial strategy by the US and Sweden does not address why, for example, Sweden didn't appeal the UNWGAD's decision, if it considered it fundamentally wrong, whereas Britain did appeal it, but lost its appeal.

The American authorities deny any responsibility in the Assange case and, in particular, reject the concerns of the UN Special Rapporteur that, if extradited to the US, the WikiLeaks founder risks an unfair trial and mistreatment:
"The United States takes its obligations under international human rights law very seriously", write the US authorities to Nils Melzer, "Individuals extradited to the United States are afforded due process under U.S. laws and fair trials guarantees", they conclude.
