The BBC has just carried another item on how carbon is stored by the trees in their roots and how carbon is lost in deforestation, in arable farming including ploughing the soil and even in converting grass lawns to concrete etc. Commentary by Roger Harrabin plus footage This item was broadcast in their main One O'clock News. Harrabin's Twitter. https://twitter.com/RHarrabin There is definitely a change to the agenda at the BBC showing greater concern for the environment, although their weekend programme, Countryfile, has always produced sensible pieces on environmental concerns. Agriculture and 'farming' is supported there of course but I have heard concerns about methane releases from cattle herds and the ownership of much of the rural land by the rich for instance. The BBC also produces live coverage of the natural world via Springwatch etc and we must not forget the lavish productions of the sainted Attenborough, friend of royal princes etc.
