Australia joins the war effort in the Gulf... Archived Message

Well finally it's happened, and there is F**K all objection to it. It's necessary because Australia depends on shipments of fuel and oil through the Straits of Hormuz. Our commitment will be modest though, just a few officials, a surveillance plane later this year and a frigate in January, by which time it will probably have all blown over, or blown over all..

The few words of sense and hesitation I heard were from Peter Leahy, a general involved in Iraq and Afghanistan, now an academic, who said we should have left both of those countries and shouldn't be joining another unknown commitment with Iran at breaking point.
Meanwhile POMPEO let the cat out of the swag by saying the oops blockade.. was all about stopping Iranian oil getting to Syria, confirming that the oil weapon is the latest piece of extortion.
Our Labor "opposition" supports the action, "because we are an island nation". Like Britain. Do you think he doesn't know that Iran wasn't responsible for the tanker attacks?
