I believe that proton beam therapy is preferred where there is involvement in the soft tissue, as normal tissue is spared. But your friend will have to pay a high price to Prof Sikora who is running the private centres. There would also have to be prior X-ray and CT imaging to order to plan the treatment. Your friend should follow the advice of his orthopaedic surgeon and oncologist. I am sorry he has this cancer. Not good but hope he is treated in time and is relieved of pain. The little boy Ashya King who was taken abroad for proton beam therapy is well which is good news considering what went on. He had a brain tumour. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashya_King_case
