Andrew - a PhD, not a medical doctor - specialises in archive research and aggregation of proven sound and effective approaches to many health problems, including cancer. He offers a free aggregation of much sound, clinically-tested information which is not freely publicised as it should be, because of the corporate racketeers' current profit-above-all death grip on orthodox Western medicine. Putting life-where-mouth-is, all Andrew's children have been reared on the principles he preaches (including zero vaccinations), and have done very well, despite so much of his approach being quackily-taboo amongst the devotees of current Western medical orthodoxy.

Also, for a wilder, but actually equally-potent, approach, let your loved one look into growing his/her own hash plants, for organincally grown, confidently-identified cannabis anti-cancer treatment. Good starting points into this whole subliminal ferment in the cancer-epidemic world are the Rick Simpson story, told in the YT-available documentary 'Run From The Cure'; and the YT channel 'Cannabis Health Radio':

A lot of good results have come from these approaches, including complete remissions in some cases, and great distress relief and significant life-expectency extension even more widely seen.

I should add that, copying Rick in a small way, I grow organic cannabis plants for my own medical use, and give away - free of all charge - surplus product from each year's harvest, above what I need for dosing myself and my dear dog companion. My results, though much more modest than Rick's, have been similarly encouraging.

What I'm recommending here is eclecticism: heed everything that the orthodox professional medics tell you; obviously that shouldn't be ignored; there's a lot of sharp-end experience and clinical insight concentrated there (though also a whole lot of intense, whole-career indoctrination by the corporate manipulators to be aware of). So, pick and mix what you choose to do for yourself. After all, each of us, theoretically, is supposed to be sovereign over our own bodies, and what therapies we choose to use for them.

As well as these suggestions, I'm also sending a strong, steady stream of chi from my daily shamanic work sessions, for your close-person to use exclusively. Such psycho-spritual work being another facet of fighting for your life, which is hugely potent, but much neglected currently, in the West...

Nil desperandum, buddy! Will you keep us posted on what happens?
