Conditions in these 'broiler farms' are horrific as they are in the slaughtering process, both often owned by the same giant corporations. Poor creatures. MPs consider investigation after it emerges 180 million poultry slaughtered without effective stunning last year Electric shock ensures chickens are dead or unconscious at moment their throats are cut 18 March 2018 https://www.independent.co.uk/environment/chickens-slaughterhouses-effective-stunning-england-wales-animal-rights-uk-a8221591.html I used to keep a few hens. They became pets and used to follow me around the garden where they were free to roam. Quite amusing to see them scratching up worms and the like and when they ra from side to side on straight legs. When the time came for them to go, aged, not so healthy and non laying, I took them to the vets to be PTS @ £22 a go!
