No argument on that; European countries other than the uk have in varying measures better conditions for workers. But each on their own is not the eu, and, even if they were, the U.K. Obviously has always done what it damn well pleases, eu directives or not. I've made that point before. The reason I commented was the apoplectic thinking that it can get so much worse for the workers, and the examples given seemed ignorant of the fact that most were already firmly here and have been for a number of years! It's like the last five years of Russia-did-it thinking in the mainstream to the point of blaming them for bad weather. I see not point in embellishing facts in the sky is falling stakes. Us with no money or assets who have to work overtime (the lucky ones, who can) just to pay the rent and bills. And then do it all again next month and hope there are no new bills we don't foresee. I've been managing, I think because I'm practical (I can fix stuff) and decent at arguing (bullshit bills). Many of my friends work even longer hours to yield less, or almost no hours (because of the zero contract hours) , unable to budget so the solution is every penny in a box to feed the landlord . Others are homeless (varying states). There are people worse off, in countries with endemic drought and starvation, and nations this one is at war with or has been. There are always worse places to be. But when you get to a certain point, it doesn't excite you to worry so much, because you'll either get by or you won't. And, as I mentioned earlier, when it's someone with more comfort telling you you should be worried, because you could lose it all, you tend to think: fuvk off, I already did. And I'm still here.
