What the **** is Tom Watson trying to do?Archived Message

Is there no way Corbyn can get rid of this menace Watson? I know he was elected somehow (by members or Labour MPs?) but he is a walking disaster for Labour. Now he"s giving a speech directly contradicting what Corbyn has said and what is supposed to be the party's official position -- which of itself is confusing enough to begin with. Now Watson is muddying the waters still further and openly defying his own leader.
I was gratified to see that trades union leaders at the TUC conference said in interviews that they don't agree with Watson's position of having a second referendum before a general election. One of them dismissed Watson as being of no consequence and that nobody was paying heed to him. But lots of uncommitted voters ARE paying heed, simply because he's featured on news broadcasts.
Depressing evidence of Labour's muddled policy was shown on Newsnight last night in a report from Grimsby, the staunchest of Labour-supporting towns. Yes, it was obviously selective, but of the Labour voters they interviewed, some of them said they would not be voting Labour because Grimsby had voted 70 per cent for Brexit and Labour had reneged on their manifesto promise.
And now we have bleedin' Watson stirring up the cauldron to confuse folk even more. Can he not be got rid of?
