I can see what you're saying, only it would force the Queen, who's getting on a bit, right into the centre of a massive constitutional crisis, making the one we have even worse and bigger. Is she up to the task, poor old lady? In Britain, since the Civil War, Parliament has reigned supreme. The monarch became just a symbol of constitutional power, nothing more really. The majority in Parliament became King. Increasingly over the last few decades, typified by Thatcher, the PM became... 'Queen.' The structure of the system seemed to change with Parliament reduced and the executive, Downing Street, the PM, grabbing more and more power at the expense of Parliament. Now, it's seemingly changed again. With Parliament clawing back power and the PM weakened because he has no majority any longer, remember the majority is King. How does one get things back to normal again? This may be harder to do than people think. Perhaps Brexit will never be over because Brexit chaos is the new normal? Perhaps all the king's horses and all the king's men won't be able to put Humpty Dumpty back together again?
