Greer suggests in one of his fictional treatments of the matter that older suites of technologies, such as flourished a century or so back, will come back into use perforce, as we adapt - without the option - to the Long Descent. Mixed and matched with anything of modern hitech that's still viable, of course; doubtless we'll be pragmatic; but not Vulcan. That's not on the cards. No Lieutenant Data for us!
