in several ways - a great push to deal with plastic waste by the government, appealing to Greens while doing absolutely nothing to reduce emissions. The best purpose for the plastic would be to burn it for power gen, as happens in the EU.. but the greens won't have a bar of it. Also, for stupid Green schemes it's hard to beat this. Atlassian founder, tech head, who went to the UN forum, is proposing "making Australia a RE superpower, building Gigawatts of solar farms in Northern Australia to supply power to... SINGAPORE!! (and then probably claiming the RE as a carbon credit to sell to... Australian coal miners.) It seems to me that the cost and difficulty of transporting electricity thousands of miles, losses and dangers, would make this project a net carbon producer for a few years, but a huge profit producer for all concerned. This is the Green New Deal - sustainable growth and profit, with a little help to communities threatened by climate change.
